Do you have a newborn on the way or  have you given birth very recently?
I love photographing newborns and everything that makes them unique.
I’d be honored to capture your newborn, just as they are, in their first few weeks.

Christmas Morning Tips…

I occasionally post on Clickin Mom’s blog with tips, tricks, and fun posts about me…
This was on their blog just a few days ago – so I wanted to share with my clients, as well.
I shared this slideshow after Christmas last year, so if it feels like a repeat… it’s because it is ;)!

Christmas morning.  Everyone is looking top notch, straight out of bed, right? Well, not so much, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth remembering!

I typically spend my morning behind the camera watching my two kids open their presents through the viewfinder while missing out on the memories because I’m so busy trying to preserve them.   I’m not even in the pictures — so no one knows I’m there, but my poor husband is front and center for the whole event.

Last year, when going through my camera settings, I decided to explore the ‘interval timer’ further.   The heavens opened and I realized I didn’t need to take pictures during the upcoming Christmas morning, the camera could do the work for me with just a bit of guidance.

So I set my camera up in the corner (on a coffee table with books piled underneath my 24-70mm lens to keep it propped up where I needed it) and I set the interval times to take an image once every 30 seconds.  These images are by no means perfect.  They are noisy, the light gets harsh in the middle and there is a golden yellow lamp glow.  You know what they are, though?  Real life.  Our morning.

jaxon’s first birthday…

Jaxon was sweet, calm, and happy to play and get messy!
One year… so long, yet so fast…

I love when parent’s get in the pictures (I always urge them to…)
After-all… we think getting pictures taken is for us (mommy’s and daddy’s I’m talking to you…)

But it’s for them…
It’s their memories that we are preserving for them…

Does your sweet little boy or girl have a big birthday coming up?
I would love to meet your little one and get YOU in the picture, too!

grady…

This little guy was born earlier in the year…

I once had a baby’s grandpa ask me if I thought all babies looked alike, act alike…
No, no sir… they don’t.
Each and every baby is so incredibly different
Sweet Grady was a perfect example of this.
He coo’d and purred the entire time he slept.
His mom told me a sweet story about his feet – if you put them in a certain position, he immediately calms down.Every baby is completely unique – some have sweet button noses, some long skinny feet, and some love to be curled up while other stretched way out.
It’s those tiny differences that make me love photographing so much…

joss

Expecting is pure magic.
The round of the belly, the feel of life inside, knowing that you are growing and creating by simply breathing.
The swell moves forward as you approach “the date”.
Your walk slows, your emotions heighten, the house seems to change.
The moment is coming.
You will never again, with each new child, be quite the same.
Forever your heart is entangled and shared with someone you barely know, but know so well…

Here is a post about  baby Joss, before and after her entrance to the world…

march in my corner of the world….

This is the third month of a blog circle I am participating in with about a dozen women from around the world… at the end of the post is  a link to the next blog and a view of their world in March.
Should you complete the circle you will come back to my blog again…

March has been full of wanting to be outside.
Usually there are a few surprise warm days thrown into the otherwise chilly average temperatures, but this year it has been colder than cold.

This month’s post is about the day we visited the “Natural History Museum”  in Wilmington, Delaware.  It was a spur of the moment outing, as we had a free Saturday and  Abby has been asking questions about dinosaurs for awhile.

Please continue the circle to see what March looks like in other areas of our world.
Next up, please visit my friend, Zemya Photography, a Bay Area Photographer,  for her take on “March In My Corner of the World”

fall family

This fall was incredibly inspiring.  Most of the days were sunny and cool, but not too cool.  I spent countless hours driving around with my kiddos in search of the perfect location for each session – the leaves change at such different (and rapid) rates this time of year, so we worked together to wait it out until the week of our session to nail down our exact locations.

I also kept a thorough journal of areas/ leaf color/ date as a reference for next years sessions.  Each year I say I am going to do this – and this year I finally did!  I love the fall – and there is a reason it’s my most popular and busiest season.

beautiful day

2012 has been a really great year for me- I have gotten so many chances to begin shooting more of what really makes me happy, all while slowing things down.  What my heart is taking me to, every time, is pictures of families, siblings, and couples interacting and really connecting.  Our own family session, with , inspired me so much- and really made me see how quickly the moments pass.  The shoot forced us to stop for a few hours and just cuddle, sing and laugh.  I want my clients to have that experience as well!

In my newsletter I asked for a few families that would be interested in doing a free model shoot- and luckily I found two fantastic families that would help me out!  If your family is interested in modeling – join the mailing list here and you will get to hear first when I am looking for my next family/kiddos!

This beautiful family was wonderful to play with – they were laid back, and went with the flow! This is a really large share – I couldn’t choose so I kept including more:) We had an extra bright evening, but luckily it wasn’t too hot out – it ended up being a perfect summer day.

If you are interested in booking a session this fall- I am now booking!  Fall is my busiest time of year so if you would like to guarantee a spot, I’d suggest booking soon.
